Beginning to Film

     Our group decided that we would go to a nearby park to film our project. We chose to film at about 4:00pm so we could get as much time filming as possible and we will use a filter on the video to make it feel mysterious during editing. We first decided to put the doll in a space underneath a structure at the park but, we realized that it would be harder to film due to the fence surrounding the park making it a compact space. We decided it would be best to film underneath a tree right next to it so we could have more space and an easier time shooting.

Our group member, Kelly, was taking the first few shots of our project and then Jacky retook shots if they didn't come out well. I took some photos of the group members taking these shots and the behind the scenes of filming.


We also decided on a second filming location which was a large field right next to the park. I thought that we could do some shots in this location because it could make the mood of the intro feel more eerie.

      My Sound Art Assignment was more horror based but it had a sense of action and thrill. In this scene a person is trying to hide from an intruder. The hardest part about making this audio was to avoid getting a muffled sound from the wind. This was hard just because when you run the wind sound becomes more noticeable. The rest of the filming process was pretty simple, I just had to make sure their weren't any cuts or spaces throughout the audio.      The first foley sound in this clip is a handle shake and then the door slamming. This sound represented the intruder coming into the room while the person is hiding in the same room. This gives the audience a sense of fear for the person and just made the audio more thrilling.  My name is Melanie Kenton and I created this blog for my AICE Media Studies class. Films are important to me because they are an amazing form of entertainment and they let you escape reality. You can put yourself into any situation you want and enter the life of the characters. I am really drawn to horror movies because I love suspense and my family and I watch them all the time. Another genre I really like is Biopic because I enjoy learning about famous people and the crazy things that happened to them during their life. One of my favorite directors is Steven Spielberg because he is a great story teller and all of his movies are original ideas which makes each movie unique. I hope that by being in this class I can understand and appreciate the role media plays in our everyday lives.
