Movie Opener: First Cut

Editing 2

Image
I didn't have much problems with editing although it was difficult trying to match up cuts together in the end of the video. The actress walked with the doll in her hand for one scene and without the doll in another and I had to cut up the videos and try to make the audience realize that the doll was never there in the first place. The cuts were hard because I had to line up her body movements perfectly. On the first day I spent about an hour editing because all I had to do that day was get all the clips together and organize them in order. The second day I spent about 2 hours editing because that was when I did all the transitions, effects, and sounds into it. I spent most of the time that day working to try and make the scenes flow as smoothly as possible. I was the main editor but Jacky and Kelly helped me with the title of our movie and the effects.

Editing

I did all the editing on an iphone app called imovie. On the first day of editing I inserted all of our clips and arranged them to be in order. I then cut the clips to be at the right length in order to have clean transitions. For the last few clips my group and I decided that it would be cool to have a flip between the actress with the doll to the actress without the doll. I was a unique way of showing the audience what the rest of the movie might be based on. For video effects I put a filter over the whole video so it could be more dull and not as colorful since we were shooting in the daylight. At first, I chose a black and white filter but I figured that it needed muted color so that there was dimension to the shots. For video transitions I used a mix between dissolve, fade, and a normal cut. I used dissolve and fade to help make the transition to the next scene flow more smoothly. For the audio in the background I used a creepy sound that I found on YouTube. As I was on Yout...

Filming 2

Image
Day 2 of filming was very productive and we got a lot done in just two or three hours. Kelly and Jacky took all the shots we needed to get for our film intro. My sister, Kiara was the actress for us and we had to show her what to do in all of the clips. Kiara dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts to show that she is just a normal young girl.

Beginning to Film

Our group decided that we would go to a nearby park to film our project. We chose to film at about 4:00pm so we could get as much time filming as possible and we will use a filter on the video to make it feel mysterious during editing. We first decided to put the doll in a space underneath a structure at the park but, we realized that it would be harder to film due to the fence surrounding the park making it a compact space. We decided it would be best to film underneath a tree right next to it so we could have more space and an easier time shooting.  old filming location: new filming location: Our group member, Kelly, was taking the first few shots of our project and then Jacky retook shots if they didn't come out well. I took some photos of the group members taking these shots and the behind the scenes of filming. We also decided on a second filming location which was a large field right next to the park. I thought that we could do some shots in this loc...

Preparing to Film

Image
The actress for our film is my little sister, Kiara. The outfit that she will be wearing is a white t-shirt and jean shorts because she is supposed to look like a younger girl. We used a doll and it was wearing a red coat and white boots and we used a pen and sticky note to write the dolls name on it. The place we are going to film is at a local park and we are going to do most of the scenes next to a tree at the location. We are going to film on February 19th and 22nd at about 5pm. We don't need a script for our intro because none of the characters are going to have dialogue. We are going to be using a tripod and our cellphones to film and get pictures of the behind the scenes.
